Emily & Michael’s Wedding at Canyonwood Ridge in Dripping Springs, TX

Wedding

When They Met

Emily first heard about Michael from a mutual friend of theirs named Maddie, but she didn’t meet him until one fateful night.

Michael’s fraternity hosted a big fall party (Fajitas and ‘Ritas!) and the moment Emily laid eyes on him for the first time, she boldly decided to introduce herself. Little did she know, Maddie told Michael about Emily as well, so the two hit it off immediately.

They spent the rest of the night together, talking for hours and hours, then went on their first date two days later. Emily and Michael quickly became inseparable and on November 22, 2019, they made their relationship official!

The next two years were spent visiting their home towns, traveling across the country, catching their favorite band in concert, doing yoga together, and all the other fun things you could think of doing with your best friend and partner.

On June 26, 2021, Michael got on one knee and asked Emily to be his wife. Emily didn’t have to think twice about saying “yes!”

The Special Day

On January 9, 2022, the lovebirds said “I do!” at the Canyonwood Ranch and it was the best day of their lives!

The venue was stunning, with high ceilings, exposed rafters, and exposed brick. It was bright, lofty, and there was a hush in the air before the bride entered the room. Everything about the ceremony was timeless and classic! From the simple, gorgeous silhouette of the bride’s dress to the pristine, white florals scattered throughout the space, every detail was impeccable. Nothing drew attention away from Emily, Michael, their families, or the Christ-centered ceremony.

The tall, beautiful trees just outside the window and the glittering lights hanging from the ceiling were the perfect backdrop for a festive night of dancing and celebrating the newlyweds. It was a waking dream and the perfect way to segway into the couple’s next season of life together.

The Moment After the Moment

If I had to pick two memorable moments, it would most definitely be these…

The first look was absolutely amazing to capture. It was a quiet, tender moment, filled with emotion at the reality of what was to come. Their love was palpable and it’s like they were the only two people in the world.

Their couple portraits were so fun and truly captured the pure delight and joy of the celebration. We got to take both traditional portraits and more experimental, dynamic portraits. Looking back on their photos fills me with so much joy! The way their wedding day unfolded is so clear in their portraits: it started with hopeful, quiet anticipation and ended with overwhelming joy.
